Rio Tinto Selects PROACTIS for Mining Project in Guinea
Leading mining and exploration company controls spend with PROACTIS P2P
As one of the world's largest mining companies, Rio Tinto's fundamental objective is to maximise profit to investors by operating responsibly and sustainably in finding, mining and processing minerals. To help achieve this objective, Rio Tinto has selected PROACTIS Purchase-to-Pay, via PROACTIS partner, Eclipse Computing, to control indirect spend at its Simandou mining project in Guinea.
Construction of the mine is due to commence in 2010 and Rio Tinto will be using the PROACTIS Spend Control system to manage the purchasing of goods and services required to bring the mine into operation. The construction will involve moving expensive plant equipment from one location to another and the PROACTIS Stores module will enable them to track where this equipment is at all times.
One of the benefits of PROACTIS is its multi-language capabilities. As Guinea is a French-speaking country, the system will be configured for the French-speaking Rio Tinto users in Simandou.
