P&O Ferrymasters is one of the leading European providers of tailor-made transportation and logistics services. With an ever-increasing number of purchase invoices across multiple sites, the company found that process inefficiencies and labour costs were increasing because more people were having to process invoices manually.
In addition, the evidencing of signed proof of delivery (POD) documents was critical to ensure that any potential barriers to payment were removed. A two-phased approach was adopted – to implement an invoice solution and a POD solution, with a view to reduce costs and improve efficiency cash flow.
“We now have a single solution that scans paper documents, while importing XML, PDF, email and faxed documents. The solution – coupled with the process-based approach from our partner – has seen us drive down our debtor days while reducing our invoice processing costs by over 35%,” says Stephen Walters, IT Director, P&O Ferrymasters.
Having streamlined processes and simplified the receipt of information into the business P&O Ferrymasters continue to look at where further cost reductions and efficiency improvements can be achieved across the business
