PROACTIS, a global Spend Control and eProcurement solution provider, today launched a new public sector case study: eInvoicing Transformation at Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council.
As part of a finance transformation programme, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council recognised the need for a single, automated purchasing process to increase compliance with purchasing policies and increase visibility of what is being spent across the council. This included eInvoicing to streamline the downstream process of invoice handling in Accounts Payable.
Nuneaton & Bedworth chose EGS, which is now part of the PROACTIS Group. "eInvoicing takes the waste out of the system. Even with only 500 eInvoices a year, an organisation could make noticeable savings. The more resources you invest, the faster the payback," says Steve Ryder, Procurement Manager at Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council.
With around 20 percent of the council's invoices being processed electronically, the results to date include:
- 80% reduction in the cost of transactions
- Staff resources reduced from 6-7 to 2.5 full-time equivalent positions
- System regularly flags up invoice errors and blocks over-payments worth hundreds of pounds at a time
- Council now on a firm footing to prepare for major eInvoicing expansion
